Our Commitment
Victory Minerals (VM) is proud to be part of the Ballarat community. Located close to surrounding suburbs and neighbourhoods, our connection to the region extends beyond our operations.
Our community includes local families, residents, businesses, and many of our own employees who live and work in the area.
We are proud to be a major local employer and to work alongside more than 100 local and regional businesses. These partnerships help support jobs, local skills, and opportunities across Ballarat and the wider region.
Every day, we operate alongside our community, both on site and beyond our boundary. We understand that trust is built through consistent actions, respectful relationships, and doing what we say we will do.
At the heart of the community
Our commitment to Ballarat goes beyond compliance and approvals. It’s about being a good neighbour, communicating openly, and taking the time to listen and respond to community feedback.
We are committed to responsible and sustainable mining practices that respect both the environment and the people who live nearby. Just as importantly, we continue to look for ways to improve through ongoing engagement with the community.
Being part of Ballarat means sharing responsibility for the future of this region. We value the relationships we have built here and remain committed to strengthening them for years to come.
Environmental Review Committee
The Environmental Review Committee (ERC) is an important part of how Victory Minerals engages with the community and maintains transparency around the Victory Minerals operations.
The ERC is a requirement of our mining licence and brings together representatives from the community, government agencies, regulators, and local organisations to review environmental and social performance relating to the mine.
The ERC is chaired by Michael Poulton, CEO of Committee for Ballarat, and includes representatives from:
Local community and neighbouring residents
Special interest groups
Resources Victoria
City of Ballarat Council
EPA Victoria
Central Highlands Water
The ERC provides an open and transparent forum for discussion about the mine’s operations and community interests.
Meetings are open to visitors attending as observers. Community members wishing to raise an item for discussion may do so through their nominated ERC representative prior to the meeting.
Observers do not have an active role in committee discussions and are required to comply with the ERC Terms of Reference.
About the ERC
Role of the ERC
The ERC aims to:
Provide a transparent and representative forum for community discussion relating to mine operations
Support open communication between the mine and the community
Assist in identifying and responding to community concerns and suggestions
Facilitate the sharing of operational and environmental information
Ensure community issues are considered and addressed effectively by Victory Minerals
Community Representatives
Community representatives play an important role in providing feedback to the mine on local concerns, community expectations, and opportunities for improvement.
We appreciate the time and contribution made by committee members, who participate on a voluntary basis.
Community representatives do not represent the mine and are not responsible for providing technical responses on behalf of Victory Minerals. Their role is to raise community concerns and assist in facilitating communication between the community and the mine.
